Ok this is basicly the same review I posted on KC-Nightlife but with a little more added.
I received a phone call from Steve Thorell at 7:00pm. He said that the entire show had been pused up one hour and that I needed to get there early since I had free tickets. So I gatherd up my group and arrived at the venue around 8:10. To my surprise the bars were not even set up yet and I had to sit there with my small group and try to make conversation. Finally around 8:30 the bars opened and the replacement dj for Jimmy Van M started playing (Jimmy was sick and in NY). I was actually impressed with the start because the replacment dj started off with some slow trip-hop and downtempo. The sound system wasn't turned on full blast so people could come into the room and just chill before it got out of hand. As the time got closer to 10:00 the opening dj started picking up the pace. Soon the familiar sillouette of Sasha appeared on stage to a muffled and rather weak crowd. At this point I was getting rather worried that they didn't sell as many tickets as originally planned. Sasha took over the decks and the real light show started up. As the smoke filled the room and the sound system got louder the room started filling up with people more. Sasha played for about an hour, his first set was made up mostly of very atmospheric progressive house with a tribal edge. Around 11:00 Digweed appeared on stage and took over the helm. At this point the room filled up nicely and they were still coming in. Digweeds first hour was also on the tribal/progrssive side but with a much harder beat. Digweed payed untill 12:00 or so and then both he and Sasha started trading off every two or three records.

I was very impressed with the sound throughout the entire show. However thet sound system wasn't the phazon sound system. I was talking to David Braswell and he told me what it was but I don't remember the name. However he did say that each one of the mid and high cabinents contained 2 15' speakers, 4 8' speakers and two horns. He said that
all the cabinents were top of the line, the best you can get, and that each mid/high cabinent was about $8000 brand new. And they had 14 of them at the show last night.
At the start I was a little dissapointed that the tour managment wouldn't let the other rooms happen. But in the end I was very pleased with the production and the music. I thought it was a very good show.
The two things that I really noticed throughout the night that
were screwed up or just weird were -
1. The lighting system - As fantastic as it was it was not perfect. They used 4 Martin Mac 2000's, 4 Martin Mac 600's, and 4 High End Techno Beams for the basic intellegant part of the light show. They also had several strobes and those huge and brite white lights. The only problem was that one of the Techno Beams was having a problem with one of it's color wheels and the light kept getting stuck on plain white. This looked rather odd when sitting next to the other Techno Beams. I saw the light reset a few times to try and correct
the problem but it always occured again a few minutes later. In the end the light operator should have just shut off the lamp.
2. Sasha and Digweed - Both of them played very nicely. Although I heard that Sasha was drunk as hell, that being the case he still played 10 times better then I do when I am drunk, or sober for that matter. But I noticed how in the begining that both Sasha and Digweed traded off after 60 minutes. But after the first two hours they went back and fourth amost 1 record at time it seemed. Then
twoards the end it seemed as if Digweed took basic control of the set and was leading the charge. The final song before the first encore was Digweeds remix of that classic Leftfiled song (i can't remember the name of the song right now). But it was a fantastic way to end the main set. I didn't stick around for the 2nd encore but I heard about it.
I heard some people bitching about how their were not any color lasers. David Braswell explained this one to me as well. He said that they have two of the full color lasers but they required so much power that they had no place to draw power from that wouldn't kil everything else. Apparently the Uptown does not have enough power for everything that Delta Heavy brought to the venue. But in the end the green lasers did a fine job. I was impressed.
Overall I felt bad for the dj's that didn't get to play, but I was
very happy with the show. How many times has KC seen that sort of turnout.....especially on a Monday night. I thought it was great, and I really hope to see them here again soon.
