The $328,835 snapshots of an Air Force One backup plane buzzing lower Manhattan last week will not be shown to the public, the White House said yesterday.

"We have no plans to release them," an aide to President Obama told The Post, refusing to comment further.

The sole purpose of the secret photo-op, which sent thousands of New Yorkers running for cover, was to take new publicity shots of the presidential jet over the city.

"The photos . . . are classified -- that's ridiculous," Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., said.

The photos have not technically been "classified," a White House aide said, but they are being kept from public view.

New Yorkers said they could not understand how a president who shares intimate snapshots from the White House could justify keeping these secret.

"So we're not gonna see the fruits of this cruel joke?" said Frank Antonelli, 39, one of the Wall Street traders spooked by last week's flyover.

"I'm not surprised. Obama . . . wouldn't further all the bad publicity by putting out those pictures."

Why do we need to see the snapshots? We already have tons of other pictures and video too.

It's just a big waste of time if you ask me. Just as much as it was a big waste of money.

wheres the contempt ? wheres the outcry? If this had been Bush and his cronies that did this the forum woud be foaming at the mouth demanding public apologies, impeachment , and the like

I want to see the fucking snapshot because my tax dollars paid for them. They obviously were not for publicity if they are being kept secret, so wtf are they for?

Oh, blow it out your ass. There was a public apology, and now an investigation. Someone is probably going to lose their job over it.

Oh, wait, no you're right. It's a massive conspiracy, clearly!

Dude seriously, shut the fuck up already. We spoke up, and shouted out over Bush's illegal war in Iraq. We spoke up and shouted out over Bush's failed response to Katrina. We spoke up and shouted out over Bush's failure to read the writing on the wall about the impending attack from Bin Laden that the CIA and military inelegance told him was coming. We spoke up and shouted out over Bush's failed economics.

So Obama flew Air Force 1 over NYC. He knew he fucked up, and he said he was sorry. When the fuck ever did Bush say he was sorry?

Find something else to get Obama on, and leave this stupid ass shit alone.

Actually, Obama wasn't even made aware that it was going to happen before they did it, and the guy still stepped up to the plate and took responsibility for it. Apparently that's not enough for some. I suppose he needs to die for everyone's sins as well.

Yeah, make more posts about it. Because everytime you do, it has gone over so well with everyone. I mean, the people on this board are almost starving to death for your wisdom.

On a side note, Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”.

DJPrato

I think the Pirate situation should have been handled exactly how it was handled. It's one of the few good moves Obama has made. Likewise I appreciate the intelligence garnered from the instances of waterboarding conducted at Gitmo.

But, if we're following the current administration's logic here, the Somali situation could have been resolved with "non-violent" discussions and/or other "diplomatic efforts." Right?

By all means let's not extend the luxury of hypocrisy here. If you punish one group, you have to apply the same standard to the other.

I don't think that's true at all. Different situations require different actions. The world isn't so black and white. Whereas diplomacy will work, or should be attempted, in some instances, a bullet through the head is just as effective in others. I too think the situation was handled appropriately. What some call hypocrisy, others call a grey area.

Wow. Comparisons between some photo op in NY and starting illegal wars with foreign nations, and then comparing Navy Seals killing 3 Somalian Pirates with waterboarding?

Can we say grasping at straws?

Who's fault is this debacle exactly? Well, I suspect Mayor Bloomberg's office honestly. He got a whole lot of national face time bitching about this very event. A whole lot of time. He's the one with the most to benefit from the entirety.

Seeing as how the FAA was informed, and the NYPD was informed, and every single day in NY some publicity stunt occurs, movies are shot on location, live broadcasts, commercials, and concerts with national artists all happen without major incidents.

I think the NY public is aware of what a photo op is, or a publicity stunt is. Unlike Boston, who freaks out over LED's on an overpass. So maybe someone should have told someone. Or everyone.

People probably would have come out in masse to wave American flags instead of milling about in the streets and yelling at mass media outlets.

Again, ask yourself who benefits from the portrayal of events? Could it be a mayor with Presidential aspirations?

No, it had to be Obama consorting with Satan via his Islamic Oujia board over how best to make New Yorkers shit their pants by reenacting the events of 9/11.

By flying by the Statue of Liberty in a baby blue & white plane with an F-16 escort, of course.

Seeing as how the FAA was informed, and the NYPD was informed, and every single day in NY some publicity stunt occurs, movies are shot on location, live broadcasts, commercials, and concerts with national artists all happen without major incidents.

This little stunt , no matter how well people were supposedly informed , is bordering on insane considering events that took place there eight years ago

I think the NY public is aware of what a photo op is, or a publicity stunt is. Unlike Boston, who freaks out over LED's on an overpass. So maybe someone should have told someone. Or everyone.

Yes, the public should have been well informed by the media and other information outlets

People probably would have come out in masse to wave American flags instead of milling about in the streets and yelling at mass media outlets.

Again, ask yourself who benefits from the portrayal of events? Could it be a mayor with Presidential aspirations?

I dont think this looks good for Bloomberg either, in fact , it makes him look like a political puppet subservient to the federal government

Dude, you really are a moron. Have you ever been to NYC?

The reason why this scared some people was the involvement of the F-16 fighter plane. NYC happens to sit right in the middle of three of the busiest airports in the nation (Laguardia, JFK, Newark) and is in close proximity to Boston, DC, Phili and others. The people of NYC are used to seeing large planes over their city all the time. It happens everyday. I mean it was only a few months ago that a large commercial airliner made a splash landing in the Hudson river.

And again, the main man stood up and said he was sorry, even though (as Nick said) he had nothing to do with it. Seriously, drop it, it's over. Stop reaching for trash. Obama is the president, and like every president before him, he is going to fuck up. Not just some stupid fly by, but a real fuck up, A blow job from an intern, a failed response to a disaster, a hostage crises, a bad economy, whatever. Wait for the real thing and stop being such a pansy/alarmist.

Still seems like a stupid stunt. I dont care if it was a jumbo jet cruising the wtc ground zero or F-16s flying over some new yorker eating ice cream sadwich. Photo ops do not take precidence over public safety. GET IT?

And its certainly worthy of posting here to get the kool aid drinkers riled up!!!
