syde-sho to my knowledge is the biggest and most widely used community website in the midwest area and i think it would be great if we could create a really streamlined and organized database for information on all the various crews, sound guys, lighting guys, equipement guys, venues owners, promoters, web designers, graphic artists, vendors, photographers, venture capitalists, flyer printers, and generally, enthusiastic, positive people that want to make a difference in their community and help the scene grow. Each crew or person could list in thier box the resources and/or skills/knowledge they have to offer. That way if people had say, sound and lights, they could talk to this guy who has a venue, and talk to these people who know some djs, and voila! you've got an awesome collaborative event to furthur build the midwest dance community. no more drama, no more us and them. We're all in this together, we are all human, we all have desires and faults, but we can work together, as a single community, and build something truly great. The state of the world may be in trouble, we may have problems at home or at work, but this community, and what it has always has been about (in its truest form) should be a place where we can all feel peace, love, unity and respect for everybody in it. I just see so much potential, and seen it so close... through this community, and our unique cultural values...... I just want everybody to be siked about this, to really be excited that we are going to do this, and that it Is going to happen.

we have tried something like this before but none of the local promoters used it. If you look in the message forums you will see a forum called promoters only, or at least i think it is still there. That forum was created so that promoters could converse with each other so we wouldnt have a bunch of events all on the same night, it was also meant to be a place where promoters could get to gether to pool resources for things like flyers, sound, lights, etc..... But however, nobody used it. I think to this day i am the only person who has posted in that forum and it has been there for way longer then a year now.

to make something like this happen, and be thourough, i think the project will need organizers... a few people who are willing to compile all the info and make a database. i don\'t think it will work if its left up to everyone to enter the information themselves, and the forum idea has already proven not to work.
then maybe after a while it could be opened up for anyone to enter themselves.

You can tell I\'m avoiding sleep b/c I\'m reading up on all the old threads... this is a *really* good idea!!! Has anything like this been done yet (since Rj last posted?) If not, and if Sydesho\'s not able to (that\'s a lot of energy to expend, esp. if you\'re maintaining a popular website such as this one), perhaps a group of people (promoters and partygoarrs alike) should get together to make this happen.... *very* good idea.

I\'d be down w/helping, by the way, I\"m not just all talk! :)
