I think it would be really cool if we all got together and donated to a charity evey month. It could be different ones that we support as individuals accept if we do it together each charity can get more.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the homeless. I have spent a lot of time out there and it would be nice to contribute to homeless because they often forgotten about.

But every month perhaps at an event or something we could collect donations for different charities. Not only will be helping many people but those charitys and people will know that Ravers Care about them.

not that it\'s a bad idea, but i\'m lookin for a third job just to make it on my own...i don\'t know what everybody else\'s finances look like, but i\'m gonna be disappearing for awhile and only playing gigs i get paid at cuz right now, gettin my life in order is more important to me...sounds selfish, but the needy can\'t pay my bills...just my .02 though..still a good idea yo ;)

what if we created our own?

we could do something like \"food not bombs\" and feed people on a random street corner or park bench

i know we\' have a rough time coming up with the manpower for it, but i\'m down with putting in my share :)

Dude, anyone that knows me knows that I have wanted to see the Rave community create it\'s own public service organization for years.

Honestly, I really do not think the people in this scene function as a community enough to assemble a board and do the damn thing. I hate to be negative but most people will not even be willing to spare one beer a week to a homeless person or sick child. I will and you know it, but good luck finding helpers.

I remember being on the side of the highway cleaning up next to a sign that said Ravers Care , feeling embarrassed of my community because there were only 4 of us on the side of the road. Maybe if there were 50 we would have made the news and got positive attention to our community. But most people are not in the scene to add and contribute to it, if they were they would know your hardest work is in the mainstream dispelling the myths that surround us. Not actually the events themselves. It is all about preservation.

The law is like a fire if we get tossed in the only thing that will be left of us is pure but greatly reduced in quantity. If you can find people that realize this that we will be tested and need to purify things so we can preserve our small but golden community we\'d be around until the end of time.

So, I say we try just to get people to donate to a cause for a year maybe after that the people who actually participate might get together to do something bigger. That year will be the fire that tests the loyalty and dedication of the future board. See if they really have it in them.

This is going to sound really bad but I dont donate to charitys that help peope. Most organization such as the United Way pocket so much money and people that dont even need the help get it. Most charitys are poorly ran and from what I read the money doesnt go anywhere but in the coordinators pocket.

The charitys that I do help are ones that help animals. Animals are innocent and deserve help. I will give money to Wayside Waifs, the Humane Society, World Wildfile Fund, etc.

Why not raise money for schools\' fine arts programs (music in particular). Since we are supposed to be about the music, wouldn\'t it make sense to donate to something that we all are actually interested in?

that\'s a great idea rob
maybe we can do something with local talent...
put on a show with local dj\'s, compile a cd with local producers or something.... a musical protest ...

and if we were to take donations, we could definitely donate the money to a school that needed it, for their fine arts/music program. that\'s a really aweseome idea...

the ultimate question though... can it happen?

So I guess a people did read this. All right, if we are being serious, someone may want to arrange a meeting to talk all this out. At the meeting bring your petition to help the charity you like and be ready to discuss how we are going to arrange the affairs, whatever they may be. I will do whatever as long as it is with you.

Good point about the bigger charities, I like the idea of smaller ones too.

Your move.
